When Helcim started in 2006, they found that the merchant account industry had a lot of flaws in it that could be corrected. Perhaps the biggest change in theory for Helcim came when they realized that if they were transparent to their customers, unlike a lot of other companies, they would gain their trust and long term business.

For the first seven years that Helcim was providing affordable merchant accounts, they were based in Canada. In 2013 Helcim expanded and began to offer their services to US based businesses. They established an office in Washington and have continued to grow since then. A huge growth for Helcim was in 2017 when they launched the Helcim Commerce platform. Helcim is registered and accredited with the Better Business Bureau. They current have an A+ rating which says a lot about Helcim. Helcim offers Ingenico terminals in both wired and wireless should you need to accept payments in store. The Helcim mobile card reader is about $30 and the Ingenico terminals start at $229 and go up.

The Helcim Commerce platform is designed for all types and sizes of businesses.  The Helcim Commerce platform allows you to accept payments, create invoices, manage an online store, inventory products, set up recurring payments, and is your point of sale terminal!

Unlike a lot of other merchant account companies, Helcim is very transparent with their pricing. It is clearly laid out on their website and is very competitive. Below are the Helcim fees and the Helcim merchant account fees.

• Retail / Restaurant (Swipe) – 1.68% – 2.70% depending on your average sale amount plus .08 cents per transaction
• Online (Keyed) – 2.15% – 3.20% depending on your average sale amount plus .25 cents per transaction
• Charities – 1.70% – 2.75% depending on your average sale amount plus .10 cents per transaction

Helcim has a very thorough customer support system.  They offer free phone and email support as well having a very large online support center that contains numerous tutorials.  The online tutorials are great because they are very detailed and provide step by step instructions.
